Six metres, and nothing standing in it.
Most wide alfresco openings get solved with two blinds and a post between them. The post lands in the middle of the view, and the join between the two blinds is where wind and rain work through. NSS Universal covers the full six metres in one sheet, so the opening stays as the builder drew it. The cost is thirty extra millimetres of pelmet against Galaxy — the mechanism to carry six metres of fabric has to live somewhere.
What happens when the opening is wider than six metres
Six metres covers most alfresco openings a Perth builder draws, but not all of them. Past that you are into two blinds, and the decision moves to how the pair meets in the middle. Two Universals butted together with no post seals better than two blinds either side of a structural column, but the detail has to be worked out at the measure rather than assumed — it depends on what is holding the roof up. Worth raising early, because it occasionally changes what the builder frames.
Why the pelmet grows
A six metre sheet of fabric rolls into a larger diameter than a 4.5 metre one, and the tube carrying that span has to be heavier or it will visibly sag in the middle. That is the honest reason Universal runs a 130 mm pelmet against Galaxy's 100 mm. If the opening is under 4.5 metres there is no reason to accept the larger box.

Why is the Universal pelmet larger than Galaxy?
NSS Universal runs on a 130 mm pelmet rather than Galaxy's 100 mm because a six-metre sheet of fabric rolls into a larger diameter and needs a heavier tube to carry the span without deflecting.
How are NSS Universal blinds operated?
By a wireless remote handset as standard, on a 240 volt motor, with an optional Orvibo hub for phone app control. On a six-metre blind that matters more than it sounds: a sheet that size is not one you want to be moving by hand, which is why the motor is standard rather than an upgrade.
Can Universal blinds be colour-matched to my home?
Yes. NSS Universal blinds are powder-coated in the Interpon Textura range including Colorbond® colours, so the frame can be matched to an existing roof, gutter or window frame. The HVG Visiontex woven mesh comes in a wide colour range of its own, chosen separately from the frame.
Is Universal suitable for a windy site?
NSS Universal blinds are built from marine-grade aluminium with a track and guide system that holds the fabric under tension. For very exposed sites, a fully sealed track-guided system such as Zipscreen or Ziptrak is worth comparing.
Can two Universal blinds be run side by side?
Yes, for openings past six metres. The join between them is the point to discuss at the measure, because how the two blinds meet determines how well the pair seals against wind.
Is a Universal blind heavier to operate?
Not for the user — it is motorised, so the operation is identical to Galaxy. The extra weight is carried by the tube and the motor, which is why the specification differs.
Can NSS Universal blinds be controlled from a phone?
Yes. NSS Universal runs on a wireless remote as standard, and an optional Orvibo hub adds app control from a phone, so the blinds can be operated from anywhere and grouped together. The remote keeps working either way — the hub is an addition, not a replacement.
